COMMUNITY NEWS

Join the Natal Day Parade!
There will be a float representing the churches of HRM in this year's Natal Day
parade. The theme of the float is "God of this City". On the float there
will be a worship team, led by Carl Jobin from First Congregational Church,
and a couple of dancers. Behind the float there will be more dancers on the
street. The organizers are looking for some volunteers who would be willing
to carry the banner with the words "Churches of HRM" or one of the
following flags: the Canadian flag, the Nova Scotia flag, or the HRM-flag
(you just need to walk with the flag, no dancing required). It would be
great if some of the volunteers were male, as they would like to have a
more diverse representation of the churches. The parade begins at 10 AM on
Monday August 2, but volunteers are asked to gather and find their place at
8:30 AM, on the corner of Novalea and Duffus, because there is a judging of
the parade displays before the parade starts. The parade will last for an
hour and a half (ending at 11:30 AM) and go down Gottingen street, turning
onto North, crossing over the MacDonald Bridge and then it will march
through a part of downtown Dartmouth. If you are interested in
participating, please contact Dorette Pronk (home phone: 454-9288; e-mail:
pronk@mathstat.dal.ca).
